Bethnal Green, London E2 7AE
21st May- 2nd June 2024

Something else about this morning: the perception, very strongly borne, that despite all the suffering and injustice, I cannot hate others.          Etty Hillesum

Sam Edwards, a mature fashion model with mental health difficulties vlogs to her followers during the first lockdown of 2020. Isolated in her flat, she discovers the diaries of Etty Hillesum, a Jewish woman writing in Amsterdam and Westerbork during the Second World War. Etty... in Transit charts the profoundly moving and intimately interwoven journeys of personal discovery for both women.

This new multimedia production which premiered in November 2023 is based on the extraordinary diaries left by Etty Hillesum (1914-1943) adapted by Paul Gateshill

without a doubt one of the most impactful performances we have ever experienced.

We regularly perform on the Bankside in our free theatre-based seasonal festivals which celebrate the seasons with games, old customs, music, dance, the Green Man in his various guises and performances of traditional plays.

All we do, we do as volunteers and without funding.
Please, however small it may be,
help us to keep this much loved traditional festival alive.

We hope to see you soon!

The Lions part is a small Charity whose core work centres on creating annual street theatre festivals that reignite connection with the seasons. We do this with theatre, music & visual creations. What singles out our Festivals is that we celebrate the seasons in an urban environment, bringing traditions alive for City dwellers that are more often fostered in the countryside. Patron Sir Mark Rylance,"I feel I always learn something about community and spirit and nature when I see the Lions part"

If you would like to make a regular or a one-off donation towards our future work
